American Girl Doll Lila Makeover
I had to take a day off from working on orders, as I was getting so burnt out. So I did a makeover instead.
I had Lila on my wish list for a while. I absolutely loved her freckles and her beautiful, multifaceted hair. So when she went on sale, I used my rewards to get her. When she arrived, even though she's gorgeous as-is, I couldn't help feeling she needed hazel eyes. So I gave her a very subtle makeover—I didn't want to change her too much.
This was the easiest eye swap I have ever done! From popping the old eyes out to putting the new ones in, it took about 30 seconds. I was amazed. I poured boiling water into her head, let it sit for about 5 minutes, dumped it out, pushed the eyes out through her neck with my thumbs, and then quickly pressed the new ones in. I wore double nitrile gloves. Usually I have to use a towel and end up with a blister on my thumb, so I was ecstatic. I guess the secret is to work fast and don't be afraid.
For her lips, I used a fine paintbrush and stencil paint, mixing Coral Rose, Dark Chocolate Brown, and a little bit of white. I wanted them to look just a little fuller while still appearing natural. I also added a little bit of Coral Rose onto her cheeks for a subtle blush.
Then I took her ponytails out, lightly misted her hair, brushed it with a wire brush, twisting as I went, and dressed her in the Fun in the Sun Travel Outfit. The sunglasses are from Evette's accessory pack.
