#44 Holiday Outfit Pattern for My Child Dolls

Image
It's been almost a month since I got my last pattern out.  I have been so fatigued.  For two weeks, I struggled just to do normal everyday things.  At one point, I made it from my bed to the couch and then back to bed.  I'm pretty sure it's a flare from fibromyalgia, but it really suuuuuuuccccckkkksss.  I just never know what's going to cause it or how long it's going to last.  It could be the cold weather.  Or all the dentist/doctor appointments and school events my kids have been having. Anyway, I had never made an outfit for a My Child doll before, as I had never had a My Child doll before now. The pattern is for both girl and boy holiday outfits. Dress, Bloomers, T-shirt, Overall Shorts (aka Shortalls), Vest, Tie, and Hat. Dress bodice and sleeves are a solid color. Skirt is plaid. The hat, tie, and Shortalls are a solid color. The Vest is plaid. Use regular cotton fabric for everything except the t-shirt. The t-shirt is white stretch knit with cotton c

Dyeing PVC Plastic Doll Shoes

Image
I bought some PVC (hard plastic) doll shoes that I thought were black, but when they came, I found they were gray.  I had an outfit in mind that I specifically wanted black shoes for, so gray was not going to work.  I looked online about dying the shoes.  Some websites said that the dye would transfer onto other things.  But I think they used the wrong dye.   Rit has dye that is specifically for synthetic fiber, such as plastic.  So I contacted Rit and they said that there's no reason that it would transfer.  So I gave it a try... (*Update: some dye DID transfer to the socks and when stored with other shoes, it transferred to those shoes. The shoes it transferred to were white, so I was able to use zit cream to remove it.) Things to keep in mind: 👉You MUST use Rit DyeMore for SYNTHETIC materials. The regular Rit dye will only work on cotton. 👉You CANNOT go from dark to light colors, only from light to dark. 👉The directions say to keep at boiling point, but I removed from burne

Santa Claus is Coming to Town! New Santa Outfit Pattern!

Image
Just like the Flannel PJs , I meant to get the Santa outfit done last Christmas, but time flew by too fast.  I am so excited about how well it turned out.  I used faux fur from Joann Fabrics for the beard.  Honestly, everything I bought for the outfit, including the glasses were from Joann Fabrics.  Unfortunately, the glasses are no longer available at Joanns, but you can find them at Hobby Lobby.  I used crushed red velvet for the suit and bag.  It was a little difficult to work with because it's thin, frays easily, and is a little stretchy.  The white minky fabric worked out perfect for the trim.  I used my daughter's teddy bear for the prop inside the bag.  Overall, I love how it turned out and am thrilled to have a little Santa under my tree. Available on etsy and ebay . Introduction Includes patterns to make Jacket, Pants, Hat, Boots, Belt, Bag, and Beard.  For the beard, use long-haired Faux Fur.  For the jacket, pants, hat, and bag, use red crushed velvet and white min

My Child Dolls

Image
I remember getting a doll like these from my grandma.  I didn't really care for it because I was older and out of the doll stage of my childhood.  I probably gave it away because I don't know whatever happened to it.  When a customer recently asked me if I had any patterns for My Child, I became intrigued with these dolls, and was surprised to find virtually NO patterns for them! So I found these two dolls, a boy and a girl.  I got them from a lady who's aunt collected them.  They were in pretty good shape for their age.  I did have to wash and restyle the boy's hair because it was all over the place.  Other than that, they look perfect.  You can find these dolls on ebay for anywhere from $20 to $500, depending on the condition.  They came out around the same time as Cabbage Patch Kids (1985-1988).  They have super soft "skin" from head to toe (like "peach skin").  Not quite like felt, fleece, or flannel.  Not even like craft velour or deer skin.  Th

42 Flannel PJs Pattern

Image
#42 Flannel PJs For 16” Full Size Cabbage Patch Kids® Available on Etsy and Ebay . I started working on this pattern last year in hopes to get it out by Christmas, but it crept up on me way too fast.  So I finished it this year for Christmas. Introduction Includes patterns to make slippers, shirt, pants, and nightgown, with several ideas for trimming the bodice.   If making both nightgown and shirt/pants with the same fabric, you can fit them on one yard of fabric.   If using different fabric, you will need 20” for the nightgown, and 20” for the shirt/pants.   Cut the skirt ruffle last , as you may need to cut it smaller if the yardage you got wasn’t quite big enough or was cut crooked.   You may use any non-stretch cotton or polyester fabric, but flannel is recommended as it is soft and cuddly.   Use faux fur or crushed velvet for main fabric, flannel for the lining. Materials Needed ·         ½” Velcro or snaps for closure ·         ¼” elastic ·

#40 Preemie Romper and Hat Pattern for Cabbage Patch Kids

Image
As always, I am super excited to publish my latest pattern.  Every pattern I make takes so much time, energy, love, blood, and sweat.  Literally blood because I'm always pricking my finger with a needle.  I make the pattern and the outfit to make sure it will fit right.  Sometimes I go through many, many outfits before getting it right.  There's always a time where I feel like just giving up.  But then I finish and I'm so glad that I didn't give up.  So, without further ado, my latest pattern is for Preemies and Lullabies--a Romper and Hat Pattern.
