Dino Fabric for the Dino Overalls

Image
I got hold of some vintage dino overalls and created my own vintage-inspired dino fabric! I added more color options and made sure everything would line up seamlessly. It was quite the process! I spent several days redesigning it, creating the motifs as vector artwork, recoloring them, and refining the repeat. I also had to order samples and adjust the colors since fabric prints differently than what you see on screen. I’m so excited to finally announce its arrival! 🦖✨ The new colors turned out AMAZING, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with how it all came together. You can now order the fabric through Spoonflower, or if sewing isn’t your thing, you can order the finished overalls directly from me! 💚 See the collection here: https://www.spoonflower.com/collections/1491931-dino-fabric-by-cpkdiana-by-cpkdiana See all my fabric here: https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/cpkdiana Behind the Seams (Scenes) If you've ever designed fabric—or know how the process works—you know that wh...

Courtney’s 2nd Transformation: Say Hello to Tiffani!

Image
Courtney’s 2nd transformation is complete! With Grace’s hair and eyes like Caroline , meet Tiffani—totally ’80s and totally fabulous. I’ve been on a Courtney makeover kick lately. I left my original Courtney's hair untouched, crimped a second Courtney’s hair , and recently added a third Courtney from eBay. She arrived in excellent condition, ready for her own fun ’80s makeover.  She came with extra items that I was able to sell, and I used rewards from  Fetch  for part of the purchases—so this makeover was practically free! I swapped in Turmaline Doll Eyes by Doll Of A Kind , similar to Caroline’s, and replaced her hair with Grace’s wig, which has the same style of bangs as Courtney’s but parted on the opposite side, and is dark brown and straight—perfectly complementing Courtney’s look. The wig was carefully crimped following instructions from athousandsplendiddolls on YouTube . It’s super important to crimp the hair while it’s wet—otherwise it can melt! With wet hair, ...

Totally ’80s Sticker Eye Makeup and Earrings for Dolls!

Image
Since Courtney’s world is pure 1980s fun, I wanted to complete her look with a bright, colorful makeup detail that felt true to the era—bold, playful, and easy to switch up. I found the perfect solution: precut, repositionable vinyl stickers! They’re thin, flexible, and easy to remove or reposition, making them perfect for adding that pop of ’80s color without any paint or commitment. The stickers come in tiny, ready-to-use shapes, so all I had to do was peel them and place them above her eyes. The colors are vibrant and fun, and they really help bring Courtney’s look together. They can be a little tricky to apply, though—the curve doesn’t quite match the shape of doll eyes, so they flare outward a bit. My trick is to place the black liner on top of the colored shadow while the stickers are still on the backing paper, then gently bend the paper and use tweezers to peel both layers off at once. It makes placement much easier and gives a cleaner look.  I bought these stickers on eBay...

Courtney’s Makeover: Crimped Hair, Totally ’80s!

Image
I’ve always wanted to try crimping Courtney’s hair, but I wanted to keep my original Courtney… well, original! 😂 So when I found a second Courtney on eBay whose hair had already been straightened by the previous owner, she instantly became the perfect candidate for experimenting. She also came with extra items I was able to sell, and I used rewards from Fetch for part of the purchases, so she was basically free.  I learned the safest way to crimp doll hair from athousandsplendiddolls on YouTube , and the biggest tip is this: the hair has to be wet. Wet hair only takes about five seconds to crimp, but dry doll hair can melt instantly, even on low heat.  To keep her body dry, I wrapped a small hand towel around her like a cape, then used hair clips to section off the strands. Using a ceramic crimper on the lowest setting, I worked piece by piece, misting each section with water and a bit of leave-in wig conditioner before crimping.  The result was so cute—slightly messy...

Updated Kimono Pattern for 16" Cabbage Patch Kids

Image
As I've been working on custom orders for Kimono outfits, I decided to update my pattern. Available on Etsy . I added instructions for the Fan and Hair Accessories, as well as rewrote the instructions to be more clear, and did some minor adjustments to the pattern pieces. Overall, I'm very happy with how it turned out. Now I can continue making the rest of the outfits and will be sharing them as well.

American Girl Truly Me 18" Doll #91 TM91 Sonali Custom Makeover Faceup TM 91

Image
TM91 Makeover! I love how she turned out! I gave her freckles, blush, shadowed her nose and eyes, and added lines on her lips to make them look more real. I also added subtle brown lashes. I made her a new outfit, switched her wig with TM117 and added two pigtails in front. Her gray dress really makes her gray eyes pop! I customized her straight out of the box, so she is in new condition. She will come with her box, book, original undies, dress, and boots. Available on ebay .
