Courtney’s 2nd transformation is complete! With Grace’s hair and eyes like Caroline , meet Tiffani—totally ’80s and totally fabulous. I’ve been on a Courtney makeover kick lately. I left my original Courtney's hair untouched, crimped a second Courtney’s hair , and recently added a third Courtney from eBay. She arrived in excellent condition, ready for her own fun ’80s makeover.  She came with extra items that I was able to sell, and I used rewards from  Fetch  for part of the purchases—so this makeover was practically free! I swapped in Turmaline Doll Eyes by Doll Of A Kind , similar to Caroline’s, and replaced her hair with Grace’s wig, which has the same style of bangs as Courtney’s but parted on the opposite side, and is dark brown and straight—perfectly complementing Courtney’s look. Since Courtney’s world is pure 1980s fun, I wanted to complete her look with a bright, colorful makeup detail that felt true to the era—bold, playful, and easy to switch up. I found the perfect solution: precut, repositionable vinyl stickers! They’re thin, flexible, and easy to remove or reposition, making them perfect for adding that pop of ’80s color without any paint or commitment. The stickers come in tiny, ready-to-use shapes, so all I had to do was peel them and place them above her eyes. The colors are vibrant and fun, and they really help bring Courtney’s look together. They can be a little tricky to apply, though—the curve doesn’t quite match the shape of doll eyes, so they flare outward a bit. My trick is to place the black liner on top of the colored shadow while the stickers are still on the backing paper, then gently bend the paper and use tweezers to peel both layers off at once. Smitten with My Mini Cabbage Patch Dolls! They’re here—and I am completely smitten! 😍 My new mini Cabbage Patch Kids have arrived, and I can hardly handle the cuteness. I’ve always wanted to try crimping Courtney’s hair, but I wanted to keep my original Courtney… well, original! 😂 So when I found a second Courtney on eBay whose hair had already been straightened by the previous owner, she instantly became the perfect candidate for experimenting. She also came with extra items I was able to sell, and I used rewards from Fetch for part of the purchases, so she was basically free.  I learned the safest way to crimp doll hair from athousandsplendiddolls on YouTube , and the biggest tip is this: the hair has to be wet. Wet hair only takes about five seconds to crimp, but dry doll hair can melt instantly, even on low heat.  To keep her body dry, I wrapped a small hand towel around her like a cape, then used hair clips to section off the strands. Using a ceramic crimper on the lowest setting, I worked piece by piece, misting each section with water and a bit of leave-in wig conditioner before crimping.  The result was so cute—slightly messy...

For the past decade, I've wanted to sew for 18" Dolls, even though I didn't have any. Life got busy, and my sewing dreams were put on hold. My mind is constantly filled with endless ideas for doll outfits, from 11.5" fashion dolls to Cabbage Patch to 18" dolls. Last year, I finally took the plunge and bought my first AG doll , Nicki Hoffman. I chose her because of her straight hair, thinking it would be easy to maintain. Initially, I only intended to use her for business purposes, but then I found myself swept up in the world of 18" dolls.  Before I knew it, my collection grew and I realized I'd gone a bit overboard! I ended up selling most of them. Samantha Parkington's surprise return to the market after being retired was too tempting to resist, and I ended up bringing her home. I had my eye on Truly Me 122  for a while, but saw that she was no longer available.  So you can imagine my excitement when the new releases came out and she was included.  Trading spaces for new dolls is all part of the minimalist doll-collecting journey. It's always difficult to decide which doll to rehome to make room for another. Luckily, I made room for this one! I love the new outfit! To my dismay, when 122 arrived, I was disappointed.  She has no color in her lips.  I saw other similar posts and found that many like 121 better.  She has a lighter skin tone than 122, so her features stand out more.  But I like the wig on 122 better.  Don't get me wrong, 122 is absolutely adorable.  Just not what I was expecting. A lightbulb went off and I decided to get 121 and switch wigs.  Both are Joss molds, so the only difference is their skin tone and hair.  After switching wigs, it's like they were meant to have the switch.  121's...

Courtney Moore was American Girl Historical Doll in 2020.  Her era was the 1980s, which is my childhood.  I bought my very first AG doll, Nicki Hoffman , just last year.  I had seen Courtney, but didn't really like how she looked.  I'm not a fan of the Classic face mold, and I didn't like the curly hair because I figured it would be difficult to manage (which it is.)  But after seeing all Courtney's 80s collection, I went ahead and bought her.  Just a side note, I only buy stuff at sale prices, with coupons, and reward points.  So I never pay full price for anything, especially not something expensive such as American Girl dolls, even if it is for my business.  And I never buy anything without selling something else first.  I’ve always felt guilty buying for myself.  I splurged and bought Courtney’s bedroom set. It was on sale for 20% off, making it $180.  I don’t remember it being on sale that low in the past. When I checked out with PayPal, I received an offer for their credit card with a $50 credit, which makes the bedroom set $130. I’m also going to be getting 380 rewards for my order (I also purchased her walkman for 20% off, as well as one of her shirts).  With that, I’ll be getting about $20 back, making it $110. Most of the accessories that come with the set I will be selling individually on ebay , hopefully making $110 back.  This is the only way I could splurge on this.  My main draw for getting this set was the phone. Rarely do people sell the phone individually and if they do, it goes for over $50.  Then I was browsing eBay (a dangerous past time, I know) and I saw a super cute bedding set with the Care Bear theme.
