How to Cover Up Light Pox With Stencil Creme Paint

Image
Light Pox. I know it’s a little hard to tell in the photos, but there are pox there. The before photo shows how the pox looked like before painting. The after photo shows after I’ve painted the entire face (except the eyes) with PEACH Stencil Magic Paint Creme. This is no longer available in stores, unfortunately, and I have not been able to find it anywhere. The pox aren’t completely invisible, but they aren’t as visible. I rubbed it in with a rag. I have heard of others using makeup, but makeup comes off. This stencil paint is permanent once it dries. Maybe if everyone starts writing to paint companies asking to bring back the stencil paint, then they will.

How to Lighten Pox with Zit Cream on Dolls

Image
Pox. Those little dark or light spots on the vinyl. This is how I get rid of the dark spots. (This method also works on ink marks and yellowed shoes.)  Use zit cream with 10% benzoyl peroxide (some countries only have 5%, but that's ok, it'll just take longer to work.) Spread it all over the poxed area and set it in direct sunlight. For this boy, I put him outside in 105* weather. I have put them in the window before. And when it's overcast, it takes a lot longer to work. The more sun, the better.  I noticed a huge difference in just the first day, but they are still visible. I will probably try it once more, as I don't want the vinyl to fade. I put the cream on the inside as well as the outside, as I have heard that this method works well.  Precautions: Test a small area first, as it does fade some vinyls more than others. Don’t use more than a few days or it will fade the vinyl. Check daily. I take it all off at end of day and start again the next day.  Don’t use on d

#52 Ruffled Overalls Pattern for Cabbage Patch Dolls

Image
Introducing my newest pattern, Ruffled Overalls for 16" Cabbage Patch Kids. Available on  Etsy  and  Ebay . Introduction Includes pattern to make Ruffled Overalls and Blouse for 16” Cabbage Patch Kids. Corduroy overalls with a ruffle running along the strap and a white blouse underneath. The neck and sleeves of the blouse have colored rickrack trim and lace on the neck and sleeves. The Coleco version has Velcro or snaps along the inside of the legs of the overalls. The Jesmar version does not. The Jesmar version also does not have rickrack on the blouse and has longer lace. I drafted the overalls pattern from Jesmar overalls, and the blouse from Coleco. Use cotton broadcloth for the shirt and choose between many different types of fabric for the overalls, such as gingham, twill, corduroy, etc. For more information about Ruffled Overalls, check out Hilary’s Cabbage Patch Clothes Closet . How to Curl Cornsilk Hair for Cabbage Patch Kids Dolls

Image
This was all experimental for me.  I had never curled cornsilk hair with curlers and boiling water before.  I had always used a curling iron, which the curls aren't very defined with the curling iron method.  So here's what I did:  1. Brush with large comb.  I did this as I watched tv, as it took hours to comb little sections at a time. 2. Divide in 4 sections. 3. Divide each section in 3rds. 4.  Massage conditioner in each section then roll in curler.  I used about 10 curlers--the smallest two sizes. 5. Place head in steaming (not quite boiling) water for a couple minutes.  Remove and let dry completely, about 2 days. 6.  Carefully take out curlers and admire your beautiful curls! Things I learned:  --The smaller the curler, the better. --If doing one or two ponytails, fix them first before putting in curls.

Thread Colors for Repairing Popped Stitches on Cabbage Patch Kids

Image
Since I recently acquired a bunch of rescue Cabbage Patch Kids Dolls, I've been doing a lot of popped stitches repairs.  I buy my embroidery floss at Joann's Fabric.  You can also get it at Walmart, Amazon, dmc.com, and 123stitch.com, as well as others.  You can also use Anchor embroidery thread, and Coats and Clark thread (doubled or quadrupled.)  Here's a handy chart that shows the colors that I use.
