Benzoyl Peroxide vs Hydrogen Peroxide for Removing Stains on Vinyl

Image
I’ve been doing a lot of experiments with Benzoyl Peroxide and Hydrogen Peroxide , and here are the results. First, when using Benzoyl Peroxide and Hydrogen Peroxide, remember...  Always use gloves  Some vinyl will fade worse than others, so test a small hidden area  Results may vary  Variables That Affect the Outcome:  Temperature  UV Index  Volume (strength) Stain Ingredients  Vinyl Ingredients   For pox on a shoe, I wanted to test which was better.  As you can see from the photo, the HP (creme developer) has lightened the pox more than the BP (acne wash).  It was put in direct sunlight for a week (being removed and reapplied daily). For pink marker, using both HP and BP seems to do the trick. I had been trying for days to get rid of this pink mark under the lip, with no change using HP.  I mixed the two and put it on (in the sun same as before) at 7am. By 2:40pm it was completely gone!  For whitening yellowed shoes, HP seems to work better. I put HP on one shoe, and BP on the oth

What's the Debate on Benzoyl Peroxide and Why Are People Angry?

I recently posted an article in one of the doll restoration groups about the effects of benzoyl peroxide and using hydrogen peroxide instead.   I simply asked if anyone had used hydrogen peroxide.    These were my responses: One of the so-called “experts” wrote that it does NOT permanently fade vinyl.   I replied that in my case it did.   She argued back saying it does NOT and again I said we had different experiences.   She then deleted her comment and blocked me. An admin made a separate post asking why suddenly everyone is questioning oxy cream, saying it’s the only thing that works, hair dye developer doesn’t, peroxide doesn’t. (She turned off comments after someone replied with a photo of faded vinyl.) Someone replied that people claim BP destroys the vinyl and can continue to work even after being washed. Another person replied that it left white marks and that even after 2 months, it won’t go back to normal. (Umm, hello, those are  not white marks, that's faded vinyl

Another Blaire Restoration: Custom Mini Me

For those of you who actually follow my blog for Cabbage Patch stuff, I am also sharing American Girl doll stuff. But don’t fear, I’m not leaving the Cabbage Patch world. I’ve been restoring and sharing my experiments on YouTube and my Facebook page. This is Blaire Wilson (nicknamed “Bad-eye Blaire”). I got her on Mercari for $28 ($40 after shipping and fees.)  I had purchased a wig  (Cinnamon Splendor from Dallas Doll Co.) and eyes  (Turquoise from Doll of a Kind on Etsy) to create a doll that looks like me. My original plan was to use the TM90 doll that I bought on sale for $65. But when she arrived, her skin tone was too dark. My skin is very fair, like Blaire’s.  She came to me with crazy hair, toothpaste in her mouth, a pink mark below her lips and her leg, a black mark on her torso, marks on her arms and legs, and very filthy. I used magic eraser to clean up her vinyl and get the marks off (except the pink.)  I used a mixture of 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Face Wash and 50 Volume C

Spa Day with Blaire American Girl

It’s Spa Day with Blaire! I bought this Blaire on eBay for $50 including shipping. S he came to me all mummy wrapped 😂. She was dirty, had marks on her, a green streak in her hair, a #2 on the back of her neck with a sharpie permanent marker, fingernail polish on her fingers, messy hair, a red mark on her dress, and hair all over her torso. 1. I washed her dress in water with Oxyclean. The red came right out. 2. I used a lint roller on her torso to get all the hairs off. 3. I scrubbed all the vinyl with magic eraser, being careful around the face paint and eyes. It got all the nail polish off, so I didn’t have to use remover. 4. I used Awesome spray and an old toothbrush to get the green out of her hair. It took several times. Then washed her hair with wig shampoo. 5. For the #2, I wanted to try 50 cream hair developer because I read that it works for removing yellowing. I’m never opposed to trying new products. I had her in the sun with it for 3.5 hours before I grew impatien
