Nicki and Courtney - My Very First American Girl Dolls

This is my story…. I’m an 80s kid and I confess, I didn’t even know about American Girl dolls until I was an adult with children of my own.  My daughters were not into 18” dolls at all. They collected Barbies and Monster High dolls.

I collect Cabbage Patch dolls since that was my childhood toy, and make and sell clothes for them. It’s a full time business now. I started selling things for 18” dolls (since some AG and CPK things can be interchangeable) and had so many people asking me to show a picture of the product with an AG doll. Instead of continually saying I don’t have one, I decided it would be a good investment to get one.

I chose Nicki because she reminds me of Langston from One Life To Live in the 2007-08 episodes and she has straight hair which I hope will be easier to care for and not get messed up. Plus I liked her clothes.

Then I found out they had Strawberry Shortcake stuff. So of course I had to place another order. And then I went to bed thinking about how maybe I should have gone ahead and ordered Courtney since I had already purchased a bunch of 80s items and the website said “limited quantities.” So I woke up and ordered her, along with some outfits for her. And of course I found out about the Care Bears sleeping bag and PJs that were discontinued so ordered them on ebay.

Courtney kicking back with her new Pound Puppies! I found them at Walmart. I had asked my mom for one when I was a kid and she said, "You already have one." I had a stuffed dog, but it was not a Pound Puppy. Well, 40 years later, I got not one, but two!
